RESEARCH EXCELLENCE

Institutional Review Board (IRB):
The IRB is a committee responsible for reviewing research proposals involving human subjects to ensure the ethical and legal treatment of participants. IRBs, also known as Independent Ethics Committees or Research Ethics Boards, evaluate research protocols, consent procedures, and other relevant aspects to ensure the safeguarding of the rights and welfare of individuals participating in research.

Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC):
It aims to assist researchers, teachers, animal carers, and associated technical staff in considering their ethical responsibilities regarding the design and conduct of research or teaching activities. It guides investigators in the correct ethical review pathway, informs the University community of institutional responsibilities regarding animal ethics, and articulates the responsibilities of those involved in the ethical review and related protocols.

Institutional Human Ethics Committee (IHEC):
GSCWU is committed to conducting its research in an ethical and accountable manner to facilitate a pervasive ethical research culture. The University will establish systems and processes to ensure compliance with the National Statement, The Code, and the GSCWU Code for research and teaching projects involving human participants.

Institutional Review Board (IRB):
The purpose of this policy is to provide a comprehensive standard of protection and humane care for human subjects and animals used in research, respectively. Moreover, it also addresses research and academic activities involving biosafety issues.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC):
The IBC at GSCWU regulates GMOs and also functions as a Bioethics Committee. To build the capacity of faculty and students, regular biosafety and lab safety trainings are organized by ORIC. A full-fledged online general biosafety course is available for postgraduate and PhD students involved in lab-oriented research. These students are required to qualify the online course before initiating their research work.
